DB Cargo - Wolverhampton Terminal

Working on behalf of DB Cargo UK Ltd @ Wolverhampton Terminal.

We carried out some De-vegetation works and installed over 150m of V-mesh Fencing, Gates & Barb wire. This part of the site is soon to be redeveloped, until then our client wanted to keep their site secure and any trespassers safe and away from the main-line.

DB Cargo are Europe’s leading logistics provider, they provide freight, infrastructure and passenger charter trains throughout the UK, and freight services to and from mainland Europe via the Channel Tunnel.

We were approached to be involved in their continuous improvement programme throughout the UK, This involved visiting many sites and assessing site security and offering our expertise in combatting trespass and vandal damage to the fleet whilst maintaining a safe environment for the public.

Whilst traditionally Palisade fencing has been used in the Rail sector, we were also seeing signs of persistent vandalism where the fence would be attacked but left with minimal damage so not to be noticed on the regular site safety checks were carried out.

Security Fencing Solutions offered an alternative product that provided adequate security and a more cost effective approach. We have to date installed over 100 km of V-0mesh system, given it’s aesthetic appearance and ease to spot where any breaches may have taken place, we also were able to offer a ‘Rapid Response’ service where we are able to locate and replace any panels with minimal disruption to the day to day operations.

We have recently completed the replacement of the entrance gates, installing 2no. Fully automated Cantilever gates and 1no. fully automated swing gate, all with compliant safety features and access controls. ANPR cameras were added to the gates to speed up the entry whilst maintaining site security.

All our Automated gates come fully built and lifted into position for installation, this ensures minimal interruption to the site and disruption to the business.

We are successfully carrying out the installation of over 2000Lm of V-mesh fencing to secure the site from public access and making the fence line checks easier to carry out by the DB management teams. The de-vegetation is being carried out in tandem with the installation as site security is paramount whilst vehicle movements take place in the yard.

The site at Toton, Nottingham has recently undergone a full upgrade on site security with over 600m of Palisade fencing being installed and the demolition of old stores that were an easy target for vandalism and possible injury to the public.
